Bill Walker scores and 'bounds big, but where is Mayo and Ellis?

The North College Hill Trojans, without the help of three of their starters, defeated Covington Holmes today by a score of 100-68.  Starters O.J. Mayo, Keenan Ellis and Andre Evans did not play.

Bill Walker put on an amazing show, scoring 50 points from a variety of locations on the floor, including a series of dunks and, through triple teams, and at one point, he hit back to back trey's. He also had an astonishing 25 rebounds.

However, a bigger story may be the whispers in the crowd at Fairfield Arena stating that Ellis had been dismissed from the North College Hill team. Both Mayo and Evans attended the game, however Ellis was nowhere to be seen. It was later reported by Fox19 Sports that he had "served a one game suspension for a discipline problem".

Mayo ran in the pre-game layup line and sat the bench in the first half in his full jersey. However after the half, Mayo was dressed in street clothes, but still on the bench.

Covington Holmes did make a run in the third quarter, closing the gap to 15 at one point behind the sharpshooting of Nate Edmondson, but Walker and the Trojans went back on the offensive and had a 74-53 lead at the end of three quarters.

Covington Holmes was missing a key player as well when Greg Rice was dismissed from the team this past week as reported in the local media. Stars Duran Jefferson and Austin Hill were saddled with foul trouble throughout the game.

If Ellis is not on the team, this will greatly reduce the talent the Trojans will have with the loaded Oak Hill Academy team next Saturday. While Ellis' performances in the past have been up and down against varying levels of competition, his height, reach and ability to defend the paint would be sorely missed by Coach Jamie Mahaffey's Trojans.

Fox19 additionally reported that Ellis will meet this week with Mahaffey to determine his status on the team. They also stated that Mayo will play next Saturday versus Oak Hill.
